Why I Do This Work

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."  - Carl Rogers

I discovered that I wanted to do this work when I was 15 years old, after taking a sociology class and learning about the importance of mental health for the first time. I was fascinated with the subject, and throughout my education I found that psychology gave me the knowledge and tools to learn not only how to show up for others, but also myself.

From the time I was a little, I found that I had an interest in helping others and hearing their stories, and through this work, I have found that I get to do just that. One of my greatest honors in life is getting to meet and work with the amazing people that I do. Sounds cheesy, I know, but I really mean that! I have gotten to see people transform into more confident, fulfilled, and grounded versions of themselves because of the work they put into showing up for themselves and making a change. Any small part I get to have in that process as a space, a guide, and a sounding board means the world to me, and I would be honored to take part in helping you reach your ideal self.

About Me: Outside of the therapy room, I have many different activities that fuel my love for life. I enjoy playing pickleball with my husband, building Lego sets, spending time with my cats, Rusty & Olivia, and I am an avid video gamer! I have played or at least know the basics of a wide variety of games (just ask me!), though some of my personal favorite games include The Sims 4, Pokémon, Brawl Stars, & Disney Dreamlight Valley. Also, I am a proud Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and a pretty huge nerd when it comes to counseling theories & all things mental health!

If you think we could be a good fit, I invite you to reach out for a free 15 minute consultation call!

My Approach

I believe that therapy is most effective when it is rooted in real, honest human connection, and my clinical philosophy is built on the foundation of empathy, authenticity, and acceptance, meaning that I prioritize the therapeutic relationship in my work with you. When we’ve been hurt by the people closest to us, I believe healing and growth can happen through experiencing relationships that feel safe, healthy, and genuine. In my work, I strive to provide that same kind of space where you feel seen and heard without judgment.  and I know that when people feel safe and understood, they may begin to feel more confident and try relate to themselves and others in new and more helpful ways.

My therapeutic approach is also collaborative and evidence-based, drawing from techniques that honor your individual experience while providing practical tools for meaningful change. I am eclectic in nature, meaning I utilize a variety of approaches, but I often draw from person-centered, humanistic, developmental, and attachment lenses, as well as skills-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD.

Whether you are navigating major life stressors, seeking healing from past experiences, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, I am here to walk alongside you. Together, we will work toward a life that feels more aligned with your values and full of authentic purpose.

Therapy with me is like... a balance of helping you learn to accept yourself exactly as you are, while also believing that you have potential for more. In the work that I do with my clients, I often validate their feelings, deeply explore ideas/options brought in, gently challenge when something seems unhelpful to them, sit with them in their pain, joy, sadness, anger, etc., teach new skills or concepts, and sometimes laugh at the absurdity of life (only when appropriate of course).
